How does eSim work?

An eSIM card is simply a piece of programmable circuitry built into the motherboard of your device. It’s rewritable, so switching data plans is as easy as downloading a new one.
No hassle swapping out a physical SIM card or hunting for WiFI hotspots when you’re travelling—eSIMs let you switch carrier plans wherever.
With an eSIM, international travel is easy—you’re online as soon as you land!

How well does it work?

Purchasing:

Purchase and installation of a data plan went smoothly and without incident. We were online in less than 5 minutes.

UI:

The app wins points for ease of use but loses out for being visually sparse and plain. While this isn’t a big deal from a purchase point of view, it would be nice to see RedteaGO invest a little more in the design of their eSIM shop. Despite this, everything works really well.

Data amounts:

RedteaGO sells data in the following quantities: 1 GB, 3 GB, 5 GB, 6 GB, and 10 GB.

Speed:

It’s impossible to argue with raw speed, and RedteaGo’s performance is easily the fastest we’ve tested.

In one test, it managed 65 Mbps, and in another, 192! Whether that was an anomaly is difficult to say, but we’re confident that in most cases RedteaGo will offer a solid connection with little to no downtime.

These speeds may not be a typical indicator of RedteaGo’s performance in all countries, but they were impressive nonetheless.

RedteaGo’s eSIM offerings are extensive, and they have a strong presence in the European Union, offering coverage in over 81% of European Countries.

Pricing:

RedteaGo’s pricing is very competitive and often cheaper than its rivals. Another key advantage of RedteaGO plans is the time they provide to consume the data, with many plans having a default of 15-30 days.
The table below compares the data allowance, validity period, and price for United States eSIM plans from RedteaGO, Flexiroam, and Airalo.

It’s important to note that even though the data in the table may show some advantages for RedteaGO, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best eSIM provider for you. Other factors should also be considered, such as network availability, speed, user experience, and the countries covered.
It’s worth noting that while RedteaGO has some strengths, it may have weaknesses in areas such as global plans or in offering a more limited range of countries compared to some of its competitors.
For example, RedteaGo has limited coverage in Africa and Oceania. Therefore, we encourage you to research and compare the features and benefits of each eSIM provider before making a decision.

Does RedteaGo offer deals or discounts?

RedteaGO was not running any sale discounts at the time of writing. That said, it’s worth checking the website to see if that situation has changed when considering a purchase from them.

They offer US$4.00 for every successful referral, with the credit added to your account once the first order is completed. Access your account settings within the RedteaGO app and click “Get Credits” to access your unique referral code.

Managing your RedteaGo data & topping up

Surprisingly we couldn’t find an easy way to top-up the eSIM other than to buy another data pack. The mobile app claims it’s possible, but the “Add Data” button they reference doesn’t appear to be in the version of the app we used.

📱 What devices are supported?

RedteaGO maintains a list of compatible devices here.

Will I have a mobile number at my destination?

No. Like most eSIM suppliers, RedteaGO is a data-only service. You’ll need to use services like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or Facetime to make calls and send texts.

What is RedteaGo customer support like?

As with most eSIM providers, we’ve reviewed customer service is handled via an email link inside the app. There’s no dedicated chat, but responses are said to occur within 24 hours.
We contacted you via email for input regarding this review but hadn’t heard back before publication. We’ll update you with further details once we receive a direct response.

Conclusion

In conclusion, RedteaGO is an excellent option to dip your toe into the eSIM market at a low cost.

Its data speeds are best-in-class, and the extended periods RealteaGO provides to use that data are among the best in the industry.

The company’s partnerships with leading tech and telecoms giants give them an edge in delivering a robust and reliable eSIM service. While the app may lack in design, purchase, and installation are smooth, with some impressive results in speed tests.

Lack of coverage in some countries is a drawback if you need a plan for those nations, and the lack of a prominent top-up feature may be a drawback for some users.

RedteaGO is a highly competitive option worth researching and comparing with other eSIM providers to determine the right eSIM to fit your needs.

So, is it the world’s best travel gadget? Perhaps not, but it’s a convenient tool to have at your side!
